Back in July, I mentioned that I was essentially starting all over again in my writing endeavors. I was starting all over from the beginning of my series The Dark Corner Archives. The goal was to have at least one blog post every week. For the most part. I’ve kept up with that as well as released two of the stories,—updated and revised—in the series with the third one coming out rather soon. This prompted me to experiment and try different things and do a lot of what I didn’t do before.
Nothing comes easy and the things that do and are highly productive you should thank the Lord in heaven for because He’s the one that blessed you with it. But even getting to that point is a lot of hard work. Growing pains. Toil and sweat. It’s no different with the new direction that I have decided to go. This is a lot of hard work and I think this is the reason why a lot of people who start writing just stop after about a month or so because there is a high level of discouragement you can fall into if you don’t have a plan and you don’t have a long-range goal. People don’t have the patience to stick in there and work whatever plan that they have, tweaking, modifying and learning as they go. It can be really frustrating not see the results that you expected or desired. I would be lying if I said that I haven’t felt that as I go along in this journey.
However, I’m excited as well. I motivate myself listening and watching videos of those who have already made it who have wisdom that they want to pass on. One of those individuals for me is Zig Ziglar. I was looking at a video of him yesterday and what he said I wrote down because it’s just something that resonated with me. He said:
“You’ll never make it as a wandering generality. You must become a meaningful specific.”
I was doing some research last night and it became apparent that it was time for me to change just a bit more. That change is my website. There are a lot of things that need to be cleaned up and it’s only apropos that I change the look as I have changed the whole direction of my writing endeavors. The reason for this is not just for the sake of change but I believe that this is going to help my potential fans and those who just so happen to pop up on my website to get around and identify things much quicker. It is to make it more specific. It is a benefit for those who come to visit the RIU Headquarters.
The point of this website is to be a repository for the things I like to write and all things related. That last part is important because I’m a fan of the genres I write and I want to share that with others. That’s why I post about film, television, books, and games that are tied to those things because those are the things I write as well as the things I’m interested in. So if you’re a fan of urban fantasy, superheroes, and fantasy, this is the place for you. I really encourage you to join the RIU Citizenship as well because this universe is not about me. It’s about us. It’s about having a place to go to and live, however short the stay. I want you to be a part of it, a full blown resident within it. I’ll write more on this later.
With this announcement, you may experience a hiccup or two at the website as we get things switched over to our new look. With the way websites can be switched over today, the main look and some of the details will be done for the most part. It’s the other small details that were going to have to work out after the switch, so please bear with us as we go through this transition.
Also realize that this new site is going to be a lot more active in terms of how much material gets posted. I’m still going to stick it to the one post a week minimum but that is a minimum. With the way that we are going to set up the new site, there some things that we’ve implemented behind the scenes that will make it much more conducive to post more frequently.
Thank you for your time I friends. It’s time for me to get to work here. I’ll let you know when we’re finished here.
Until next time, see you in the Tapestry!
