I’m a married man and I’m having an affair. No. It’s not with another woman (don’t be silly). It’s with superhero novels. I’m attracted to them. I’m on a mission to grow my library of them to high proportions. How did it come to this, this obsession with amassing the largest superhero prose novel collection? Simple. I love me some superheroes because I love the good guy.
I have been diligently working to get the ball rolling on The Dark Corner Archives and the first updated and revised story is up and running. Because I did some many things differently and the tools have changed drastically for indie publishers, I spent more time getting acclimated to my new tools than I did revising the story.
The first book in the series, The Visitor, launched today. It has a new cover and new content. It is the shortest out of all the stories in the series but it gets the ball rolling. It is the story that brings up a lot of unanswered questions whose solution you can only find in the books that follow it. It’s free and will forever remain that way. I make it easy for you to grab a copy so click on the link and read this post now.
There was a time where if it was found out that you collected comic books that you were weird, consuming all of that fiction nonsense. It was O.K. for kids but for adults, that was a no, no. We had to fit that grown up mold and be interested in only things that grown ups should be interested in, whatever that means.
My, how things have changed.
Today, being into all things superhero is the new cool. It has experienced a new renaissance. The comics never left but now we have more movies, television programs, and prose novels than probably any other time since superheroes have been around. It is arguably rivaling the popularity back during World War II. It is good to be a superhero nerd and it’s the best time to be a superhero nerd and a writer at the same time.
Next in my series of books read is Iron Man-The Armor Trap. I’ve been reading this for a while and there’s a reason for that. It was laborious to get through this. Bordering on excruciating. But I like to finish what I start and in the end I ultimately learn something about writing.
It probably doesn’t come as a big shock to those who know me that I collect comics (well…used to. Comics are too expensive. Even the digital versions. But I do know how to find gems but that’s for another post possibly). I have rows of them in boxes in my basement right behind me. I was collecting Avengers when most people were giving them a thumbs down.
I also collect superhero novels. They were hard to find until recently, like about a week five days ago. Now, I’m like a kid in a candy store. So much so I’ve decided to add yet another series to my website.
