Book Review – The Elfstones of Shannara

I started reading this book for a couple reasons. One was because I was taking a break from my prolific reading of superhero prose novels (count ’em. I have 113 of those novels alone and counting). Second was that I was gearing up to play a fantasy RPG with some friends as we try to work out our busy schedules to play once a month. I wanted to get into the mindset and had enjoyed the other two books in this series. Well, the third one didn’t disappoint.

I was first exposed to the works of Terry Brooks last year. I have never been a big fantasy reader but things change over the years. At this site, you’ll find two reviews of some long works by fantasy writers. One of the is Terry Brook’s First King of Shannara (which is a weird title since Shannara is not a place but a person. I enjoyed it so much, I delved into the next book of the series. Here are my thoughts.

Review – First King of Shannara

In my slow return back to writing, I have made it a point to read more simultaneously. I always try to read at least two books at the same time, one fiction and one non-fiction. Recently, I finished a book that is part of a series I discovered was going to become a television series picked up by MTV in 2015. Like the old saying goes, the book will probably be better than the show. However, my concern is is it worth my time to read. Here are my thoughts on the prequel of the series.
