Short Story – The Gift

It seems that I must apologize once again for the tardiness of this release but I have a good reason for my short hiatus. Though I’m private to a fault, I feel that when I give my word, I should keep it and if I don’t that in the very least I need to explain why. That’s only considerate and the right thing to do.

I’m not going to get into a a lot of detail. Suffice it to say that I’ve had a death in the family and needed to deal with some other family issues as well. Though my desire is to release my material in a timely fashion, the priorities of life get in the way sometimes. I’m sure you all understand.

With things now ended for the moment, I pick up where I left off with the official release of my short story The Gift which is the third story in my The Dark Corner series of short stories. This is building into something. At the moment, I’m not exactly sure what. But it is slowly coalescing and I’m excited to see what forms when its finished.

So what is The Gift about? Here’s a blurb for you:

Twelve-year old Jason Meechum is a quiet young boy who hides himself in fantasy and science fiction books. Other kids pick and make fun of him but he takes it in stride. That’s because Jason Meechum has a secret. A secret of pain, fear, and hopelessness. A secret he wants to tell but can’t.

But all of that is about to change because Jason will be the recipient of something special. Something beautiful and a mystery. Something wondrous and odd. And only he will know about it.

Tonight Jason Meechum will have two secrets. One of them will survive. Which will determine if tonight is Jason’s last night on earth.
