Short Story – The Forest

Well, yes. This is coming in just a wee bit late. I apologize for the delay for those of you who are paying attention and actually care. Going to make sure that doesn’t happen again.

Before you is my latest release in the line of short stories in the series The Dark Corner. This is book two of the series, the first being The Visitor which you can find here for free at the website as well. Now, you could go back to the post where I gave a prequel to this or you can simply read the description that follows:

When we were children,
We were afraid of things that go bump in the night.
But some things don’t hide in the dark.
They hide in plain sight.

Hal Baker needs a vacation…badly. When stress and exhaustion overtake him at work, he’s ordered to go on a camping getaway. It’s there that he reconnects with his family and realizes what he’s been missing out on.

But this blessing has an unexpected cost. Something strange is happening in Meechum Forest. Something dark. Something sinister. If Hal doesn’t find a way to overcome this threat, he may lose the family that he’s just rediscovered.
