Iron Fist and Writing

Iron Fist debuted this past Saturday on Netflix. I and the wife have watched all 13 episodes (well, at least I did). So what is the verdict. Understand, I am a comic book fan and I’m also a writer so I’m always looking at these things from the perspective of a writer. And…wow. This was just…well…go ahead and read the post because I say more than a little bit about this Netflix series.

Book Review – The Elfstones of Shannara

I started reading this book for a couple reasons. One was because I was taking a break from my prolific reading of superhero prose novels (count ’em. I have 113 of those novels alone and counting). Second was that I was gearing up to play a fantasy RPG with some friends as we try to work out our busy schedules to play once a month. I wanted to get into the mindset and had enjoyed the other two books in this series. Well, the third one didn’t disappoint.

Batman vs. Superman and Writing

You may say that I’m on a mission this year and I am. I will restructuring the website to be just the simplest of sites for my writing and the genre of my writing passion which is the superheroic/supernatural/action/science-fiction genre (yeah. Just made that up).

So that means I’m going to be playing catch up in the next few weeks when it comes to my movies. So, first up on the chopping block is DCs 2016 bomb, Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Good googly moogly. Read on intrepid read reader, if you dare.

Book Review: Green Lantern – Hero’s Quest

Well. What can I say? It’s been one of those years. But things are much different now. Believe me on that. I’ll write a post about it sometime soon. That’s a promise. Until that time, I wanted to start the year off with something simple which means a book review. Yay!

The book is called Hero’s Quest by Denny O’Neil. I almost don’t want to say something too negative given that its a book written by Dennis O’Neil who is a major player in the history of comicdom. Almost.

Ant-Man and Writing

Ant-Man-Banner-Slide

Ant-Man was the last superheroic movie that was added to the Marvel cinematic movie continuity last year (weird saying that). I didn’t get to it until later on in the year much after the fact. I had some time to watch it last month so I sat down and give it a look. Of course, when I watch a movie I’m not just looking to be entertained. I’m looking at all of the nuances like camera shots, dialogue, and the overall writing which to me, if it’s bad, the whole movie is a wash and it won’t matter what actor you put in it to try to save it. I was wondering if this was going to be one of those movies.

Back In the Saddle Again

Sometimes, God’s providential hand turns things in a direction that you don’t intend and by the time you look up, it has catapulted you into the future. I say that for hiatus from posting here for a few months. Here it is I was lightly scolding others for going eight months without a posting. No, I haven’t been that egregious yet so I can still wave that flag. But the fact that I have gone have that time isn’t saying much in my favor. So, time to get back up on the horse and let my two fans (I’m sure I’ve lost one by now) know what’s going on at R.I.U. Central.

City of Heroes: The MMO That Started It All

In 2004, I experienced my very first MMORPG. I was waiting with bated breath for it to be released and got it on the first day that it came out. I bought the strategy guide and spent countless hours on that game. That game had a profound impact on my writing and still does today.
